Training Approach
In preparation of the switch-over, we will begin training a limited group of WordPress content editors for the initial launch and expand the group shortly after. This will help familiarize content editors with the new platform to make the transition and training as smooth as possible.
Training will include to following content areas:
WordPress basics
Page editing (Home, about, Ongoing Education, Leadership, etc.)
Post editing (Newsroom, Resources, Press, etc.)
What does this mean for content editors?
All content updates made between now and end of October 2023, will continue to be replicated in the new WordPress environment simultaneously.
Please continue to track your page updates – large or small. We want to ensure that all changes make it to the new site.
Content Editors will replicate page updates on the new development site themselves.
New and updated content for news articles and resources created using the 'easyDNNnews' feature will NOT need to be duplicated.
We will train content editors in WP but not depend on saved posts.
Final migration of posts from DNN to WP will happen before launch and overwrite any existing files.
Content Editor – Custom (Can create and update content, can access media, delete limitations)
Users with this custom role in WordPress have content sections your website can only update content. They can add, edit, publish, and delete any posts on the site, including the ones written by others. An editor can moderate, edit, and delete comments as well. Editors do not have access to change your site settings, install plugins and themes, or add new users.
