In some cases, you may need to hide a section of a page from public view while you are working on it. You can use the module permissions to do this.

Normal settings

By default the module will be set to use the same roles/permissions as the page itself. You should see the “inherit view permissions from Page” box checked.

Hiding a Module from Public View

If you need to hide a section of the page for some reason, uncheck the box “inherit view permissions from page”. You will then see that the permissions to “view module” are also unchecked. In the above view, regular users will not be able to view this module.

Special Editing Permissions

In order to edit a page or module if you are not a site admin, you will need to have that role associated with the page or module. For example, in the screenshot below, “all users” and “registered users” are unchecked, but the “content editor” role is checked. This module will be viewable/editable by content editors and admins, but not regular users.

If you are unable to edit a content section in a hidden module, an admin can help you by adding that role to the module and granting you permission to view and edit.
