This tutorial covers a scenario in which you want to add the exact same module/component on multiple pages.

Be mindful when changing content in this scenario--edits you make in one place will be reflected on the original page as well.

  1. It is easiest if the module you need to move has a clear title. To check, hover over the right side of the module and look for the black label that appears. This module is titled “We have moved message”.

2. If the module does not have a title, or you wish to change the title, hover over the upper right corner and select the middle icon with the picture of a gear to access the settings.

3. Update the title in the “module title” field. In most cases the title does not show to the end user so this will not impact the way the page appears (but always double-check).

4. Once you are ready to add the module, leave this page and open the page you need to add the module. Add the bottom left of the screen is a control to “Add Existing Module” (usually the middle icon or the left icon depending on what permissions you have).

5. Clicking this icon will bring up a menu that allows you to first select the page with the module you need to add.

6. Use the dropdown arrow to select your page or type one of the words in the page name and press enter.

7. Select your page from the list and you will see a list of modules on the page. Click on the module you want to add.

8. The module will be ready to add to your page. It will “float” until you click and drag to where you want it to go. Place the module below the page title to make sure the page hierarchy is correct.

9. In some cases DNN places the module on the page before giving you the chance to select the location. If it gets added and you don’t like where it ends up you can still move it. You may need to click the pencil icon on the bottom left to get back into edit mode.

9. To click and drag, move your cursor over the top right of the module. If you’re in the correct place you’ll see a message appear confirming that you can move the module.
